One Year In: Public Safety Under Portland’s New Form of Government

A community forum with the Mayor and City leaders marking year one of Portland’s new form of government and its impact on public safety.

SavethedatePCCEP
Join the Portland Committee on Community-Engaged Policing (PCCEP) for a community forum marking the first year of Portland’s new form of government and its impact on public safety.

Hear from:

  • Mayor Keith Wilson
  • City Council leadership
  • Leaders from Portland Street Response and other City safety programs

What to Expect:

Mayor Wilson’s Public Safety Address
An overview of the Mayor’s first year in office, public safety elements of his agenda, and priorities for the year ahead.

Conversation with the Mayor
A discussion featuring questions from the public about the issues that matter most in their communities.

City Leadership Panel
City Councilors, and program leaders will engage in a moderated panel about their first year under the new system, discuss current work, and explain what they are learning through implementation.

Why This Matters
A key goal of this event is to define how public safety priorities should move through the new government structure—from community experiences to the Mayor’s direction, City Council decisions, and frontline programs. Attendees will hear directly from City leadership and have the chance to share what is working, where gaps remain, and what Portland needs to build a safer, more responsive, community-centered city.

Who we are: PCCEP is a group of 13 community members who are independent from the City & Portland Police Bureau (PPB). We were created as one of the remedies of the US Department of Justice (DOJ) Settlement Agreement to ensure community voice is a part of policing and public safety in Portland.
