Community Warehouse provides donated furniture and household items to neighbors seeking the comfort and dignity of a furnished home while overcoming adversity.
They are your friendly local furniture bank, serving the Portland area for over 20 years. How does a furniture bank work? In a nutshell, they collect donated home goods, and work with social service agencies to get those goods in the hands of those who need it most.
The stuff you no longer need becomes the solution for a family in need of essential home furnishings. Pretty simple, huh? At Community Warehouse, it’s the simple stuff – the extra dishes, towels, beds, and more – that changes lives.
ALL ITEMS MUST BE CLEAN AND FUNCTIONAL
KITCHEN ITEMS
YES: Pots and Pans, Baking Dishes, Can Openers, Cooking Utensils, Cutting Boards, Dish Racks, Dish Towels, Dish Sets and Glasses, Kitchen Knives, Mixing Bowls, Potholders, Silverware, Drinking Glasses and Mugs.
NO: cracked, chipped dishes, dishware with alcohol branding, peeling, non-stick cookware, plastic dinnerware and dishware, wine glasses, metal-rimmed dishes.
SMALL APPLIANCES
YES: air conditioners, fans, heaters, blenders, mixers, coffee makers, crockpots, slow cookers, electric griddles, electric kettles, teapots, instapots, microwave ovens, pressure cookers, rice cookers, toasters, toaster ovens, upright vacuums
Linens LINENS
YES: blankets, quilts, comforters, bath towels, hand towels, wash cloths, bedsheets,bath mats,
Shower curtains, pillows(stain-free only) pillowcases
NO: stained/torn linens, bed skirts, carpet, clothing, electric blankets, window treatments
